Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2026
Aerya is a paragliding forecast app built by a pilot, for pilots. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what your rights are. We try to keep it short and honest — if anything's unclear, email hello@aerya.fun.
Who runs Aerya
Aerya is operated by Mehdi El Meliani, an individual developer based in Spain. Contact: hello@aerya.fun.
What we collect
- Your email address — only if you create an account. Used to sign you in and contact you about your account.
- Saved spots, waypoints, settings — what you save in the app, synced to your account so it's available on every device.
- Location — only when you tap "locate me" or grant location permission. Used to center the map and fetch the local forecast. We do not track your location in the background.
- Basic technical data — IP address, browser/app version, errors. Used to keep the service running and debug issues.
- Payment data (Pro subscribers only) — handled entirely by our payment processor Stripe. Aerya never sees or stores your full card number. We only receive a customer ID and subscription status.
What we don't collect
- We don't use third-party advertising or tracking pixels.
- We don't sell your data to anyone.
- We don't track your location in the background.
- We don't build advertising profiles.
How we use your data
- To run the app: sign-in, syncing your spots, fetching forecasts.
- To process Pro subscriptions via Stripe.
- To send you essential account email (sign-in links, billing receipts). We don't send marketing email.
- To improve forecast accuracy: with your permission, anonymous flight data may be used to train Aerya's forecast model. This is opt-in and off by default. No personal identifiers are attached.
Who we share data with
Only the services strictly needed to operate Aerya:
- Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Open-Meteo, MET Norway — weather forecast providers. They receive coordinates only, no personal info.
- Our hosting provider — to run the servers.
We will only share your data with law enforcement when legally required to.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required by law to keep some records (e.g. billing records for tax purposes — typically up to 6 years in Spain).
Your rights (GDPR)
If you're in the EU, UK, or anywhere with similar laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct any inaccurate data.
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict processing.
- Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@aerya.fun. We'll respond within 30 days.
Children
Aerya is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed (never stored in plain text). We follow industry-standard practices to protect your data, but no online service can be 100% secure — please use a unique password.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the "last updated" date above and notify Pro subscribers by email. Continuing to use Aerya after changes means you accept the updated policy.
